How to Open a 4th Generation iPod Nano
- 1). Place a soft cloth on a table. Lock the power switch. Place the Nano face down on the cloth, with the LCD screen farthest from you.
- 2). Insert the opening tool into the top of the Nano between the case and the bezel. Pull the top bezel off the top of the device.
- 3). Repeat this procedure on the bottom and remove the bottom bezel.
- 4). Remove the two screws that are now exposed on the bottom with the Phillips screwdriver. Insert the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver between the dock module in the bottom and the side of the Nano.
- 5). Lift up on the tip to loosen the dock module. Pull the module out of the bottom. Remove the screw that is now revealed at the bottom.
- 6). Push the circuit board halfway out of the Nano's case from the bottom with the tip of a screwdriver.
- 7). Push the LCD panel and the glass in front of it out of the Nano's case.
- 8). Reach inside the case and grab the cable attached to the click wheel module. Pull the cable's plug off the circuit board.
- 9). Pull the circuit board out of the case. Place the circuit board on the soft cloth with the electronics facing up.

Slide the "Hold" switch tab gently off the top end of the circuit board. Push the click wheel module out of the case.
