It"s Dark Inside My Pocket

I know your letters for me Inside your golden locket Were dropped at night Where no one could see.
But you had your hands Inside my swollen pocket And your grip had roots Just like a tree.
But you never could, just wait for me.
I remember walking with you Through the ancient campus.
I couldn't speak to you Through all your lies.
Or the chrome fence You put up to take no chances.
When you laughed at me, I heard only sighs.
But you never would, just wait for me.
Well, I wanted you so bad That I had no senses I didn't look when you Stole everything from me.
You pushed me away Without my consensus Like an artist that No one else can be You never did, just wait for me.
Now I think of you at night, Almost tenderly.
But if you think of me, Wouldn't it be, Evasively? The paintings you made Reflected your potential But they showed up At your school so arbitrarily.
You knew that by keeping cool You could be exponential But you had to keep All your feelings from me.
Why wouldn't you please, just wait for me? I know that many times I've looked at you, To see absolutely nothing.
But once in a while, You just might smile And I'm surprised to find it's still exciting.
When midnight comes And makes us all unconscious I travel to where You used to be.
I know everything has changed, But I don't want it.
We've got nothing to give So everything is free.
Why don't you please, just wait for me? What you are today, I just can't imagine But I don't think you Preserved your image for me.
Now in the place we met, The streets are all contagious With memories That only I can see.
Why couldn't you please, just wait for me?
