How to Restore an iPod in Recovery Mode
- 1). Open the iTunes software. Double-click it from within the Applications folder on your Mac, or select it from within the Start menu on your Windows PC.
- 2). Connect the iPod to your computer using its included USB syncing cable. For the best results, connect the device to a USB port that's directly on your computer instead of one on a peripheral device like a keyboard.
- 3). Click the iPod's icon in the left side of the iTunes software. A screen summarizing the iPod's contents and settings will appear on the right side of the program.
- 4). Push "Restore" in the summary screen. The iTunes software will give you four restoration options. Read the description of each option in the window and choose the one you want (e.g., "Use Newest Version" restores the device with the newest version of its internal software while "Use Same Version" restores it with the software version that's already installed on it).
