5 Final Summer Hurrahs
The summer has almost officially come to an end. For some, this summer was the hottest they'd ever experienced, for others, not even close. Whether it was or it wasn't you have a few days to enjoy it before it ends. Some ways to do that include:
1. A final hurrah aboard your boat:
Do you own a boat? You'll probably be putting it away for a while if you do. But maybe you can afford to visit it for one final summer weekend. Even if you don't swim, you can enjoy delicious meals onboard, cosy cabin sleeps, and laying out in the sun while the breeze catches you skin. After a final toast, you can say bye to the summer and embrace the autumn ahead.
2. Garden dinner with friends:
Before it's really too cold to eat outside, invite friends or neighbours over for one last barbeque. It doesn't matter if people have to snuggle into their sweaters or even if the late night takes you inside, pick a night that isn't too cool and enjoy it for as long as you can. I promise you will miss the taste of homemade burgers and grilled vegetables so enjoy them while you can.
3. Drinks on a patio:
Nothing screams 'summer in the city' like drinks on a busy patio. If bars still have theirs open you may want to enjoy a final bevie with friends. Get a pitcher, eat some finger foods that make you feel bad about yourself and remember that it will be a long time before you can do any of this again. Pump some coins into the juke box and have a little dance in the garden.
4. One last swim in the sea:
Depending on where you live, the water may already be too cold for this but if you can, definitely take one last swim before it's too late. The feeling of the sea against your skin will stay with you through the winter cold. The freedom of jumping deep down below it's surface where no one can hear your voice is well worth it.
5. That last camping trip:
If the calm of lake country, the sound of loons and the strong stroke of your paddle is what summer is about for you, then take it all in one final time, before the lake freezes over and it's another six to eight months before you can have this experience again.
Summer is always a welcome season. It's sunny and it's sociable. But after a few months of heat, many people look forward to their sweaters and the smell of a crackling fire. How will you enjoy the end of summer?
