Tackling Childhood Obesity in Schools Or at Home - Which Is Best?

103 3
Most likely you have heard the buzz about childhood obesity.
Our nation is concerned with this epidemic and for good reason.
But where should the problem be addressed? Some believe the place to start is the fast food companies, some blame the limited healthy choices at restaurants and some feel that we can fix the issue of childhood obesity in schools.
Although these are all legitimate claims, the real place to focus on this issue is in our homes.
Addressing childhood obesity in schools is not number one! In order for our children to live "normal" and healthy lives, free from obesity and being plagued with the sad realities of being overweight, we need to address the issues that cause obesity at home, where it starts.
There are many factors that lead to a child becoming overweight and even obese.
Just some of those are food, activities, sleep, genetics and emotions.
To be a healthy, happy child, kids need parents (or at least parent figures) who love them and show them that love.
To reverse this sad reality we face, it is going to take more than giving attention to childhood obesity in schools.
Children need guidance, discipline, attention and time from their family.
Positive steps add up quick If your child is overweight or already obese, take action now.
I know that you know this already, and have heard/read this many, many times.
The truth is, you need to act now.
The place to fix this at home.
Fixing childhood obesity in schools is just not going to happen.
Sure, teachers and counselors can and do provide great help to our kids, but it is up to us as parents to provide the most help.
