How to Upgrade Zoom H4 to Version 2.40
- 1). Pull back on the battery cover latch located on the top and back of the Zoom H4, lift up on the battery cover and pivot it backward to access the battery compartment. The SD card is inserted in the battery compartment.
- 2). Slide the SD card into the SD card slot located between the two batteries in the battery compartment. The notched corner of the SD card slides in first and is positioned on the right side of the slot. You hear a click when the card is fully inserted into the slot.
- 3). Flip the battery cover up and press down on it to close the cover. The battery cover latch clicks when the cover is fully closed.
- 4). Move the "Power" switch on the left of the Zoom H4 to "On" and look at the top of the LCD screen when the "Zoom" logo appears. The top of the screen tells you the software version you are using. Turn off the H4 when you are finished.
- 5). Download the Zoom H4 2.40 software update to your computer from the Zoom website (See References) and unzip the file using an unzip utility. Note that Zoom created three different downloads depending on the software version you are running. Make sure that you download the file that matches your current software version. The file contained within the zip download is "SYSTEM.BIN."
- 6). Plug the USB cable into the "USB" port on the left of the H4 and connect the other end to a USB port on your computer. The computer recognizes the H4 as a removable storage device.
- 7). Double-click "My Computer" and open the "H4" drive. You see several folders, including ones labeled "SYS" and "Stereo."
- 8). Right-click the "System.bin" file on your desktop, select copy, right-click within the "H4" drive and select "Paste" to move the file onto the H4 SD card. Close the "H4" drive when you are finished.
- 9). Click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon at the bottom right of the computer screen and choose the H4 option. Unplug the USB cable when finished.

Plug the AC adapter into the "DC In" jack on the bottom of the H4 and connect the other end to an electrical outlet. Turn the "Power" switch to "On" once the AC adapter is connected. - 11
