How to Recolor Clothing for the Sims 2
- 1). Open "The Sims 2" Body Shop by clicking on "Start Menu," "EA Games," "The Sims 2," and "The Sims 2 Body Shop," in that order. The program is usually located in C:\EA Games\The Sims 2\The Sims 2 Body Shop. If you installed "The Sims 2" in a different directory, open that directory instead. You will want to leave Body Shop running throughout the entire editing process.
- 2). Click on "Create Parts." A new menu will appear, allowing you the options to "Start New Project" or "Load Saved Project." Click on "Start New Project."
- 3). Click on "Create Clothing."
- 4). Choose the category that contains the outfit you would like to edit. The categories are represented by icons. Categories include "Everyday," "Pajamas," "Underwear," "Swimwear," "Formal," "Athletic" and "Outerwear." For example, if you intend to edit an evening gown, choose "Formal."
- 5). Select the outfit you wish to recolor.
- 6). Click on "Export Selected Textures."
- 7). Enter a name for your exported file and click on "Accept Project Name." The exporting process will take several seconds. The next screen will allow you to view your selected outfit as it will appear in various clothing categories.
- 8). Press the "ALT" and "Tab" keys at the same time to switch from Body Shop to your desktop.
- 9). Open "The Sims 2" directory, and locate the folder titled "Projects." Open the "Projects" folder.
- 10
Locate the name of the saved file in the "Projects" folder. You should see a data file, as well as two image thumbnails. - 11
Right-click on the color image of your file. It is normally the first of the two image files listed. Click on "Open With," followed by "Paint." You can use other graphics editors if you wish, but Paint is fine for recoloring. - 12
Edit the color of your outfit as desired. Any color or design you apply to the outfit displayed in the image will show up in the game. - 13
Save any changes you make, and minimize the Paint program window. - 14
Maximize the Body Shop window and click on the "Refresh Preview Screen." Your edited outfit should appear on the model Sim. - 15
Click on "Import." Your edited outfit will now be available in "The Sims 2."
