Messiah Lutheran Church/Iglesia Luterana " El Mesías"
About Messiah:
Located in the Raleigh area on Austin Peay Highway near Covington Pike, Messiah Lutheran is a small church with a big heart. A congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Messiah offers a traditional service, a contemporary service, and a Hispanic service for Memphis' growing Hispanic population.
The Traditional Service:
The traditional service is on Sunday mornings at 9:00 and generally lasts about an hour.
It is a liturgical service featuring traditional hymns and Holy Communion on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. It is a come-as-you-are service with attendees both dressed up and dressed down.
The Contemporary Service:
Relatively new to Messiah, the contemporary service is on Sunday mornings at 11:15 and features a praise band that plays contemporary worship music. Holy Communion is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Also a come-as-you-are service, you will find most people in jeans and other casual attire.
The Hispanic Service:
The Hispanic service is held on Sunday afternoons at 12:45, however there is no service on the first Sunday of the month. With a growing Latino population in Memphis and especially in the Raleigh community, this service at Messiah is a welcome addition to the area. Messiah also holds an English as a Second Language class on Tuesday evenings at 7:00.
Activities, Organizations, and Events:
Messiah always has something going on such as numerous Bible classes, an active youth group, Weight Watchers, Al-Anon meetings, Boy Scouts, karate classes, and so much more.
There is something for everyone to get involved in and enjoy.
