    • 1). Insert the XP CD into the PC. Restart the computer.

    • 2). Press any key when prompted to boot from CD.

    • 3). Press "Enter" at the first screen and "F8" at the license agreement.

    • 4). Highlight the drive containing Windows XP and press "R," repairing your operating system files and overwriting the corrupt entries causing the socket error.
