Original Costume Ideas
- Children and adults alike enjoy Halloween. They get excited about dressing in costumes and spending an evening with a "new" identity. Children get excited about gathering as much candy as possible, and teenagers and adults often attend costume parties rife with dancing and spooky games. The only problem with Halloween is finding a costume. The typical scary costumes, army personnel and fantasy creatures just aren't original enough for some. Avoid repetitive costume choices by creating an original disguise.
- Advertise your drink of choice with this costume. Get a T-shirt and pants that match the color of your favorite bottled beverage--green for Mountain Dew, red for Dr Pepper, for example, and use fabric paint to add the beverage's logo to the T-shirt. Poke two holes in a clean pie tin, and tie it upside-down on your head with twine. You also can make a cylinder tunic with cotton fabric the color of your beverage.
- This costume is a visual pun. Get a cheap, pin-striped suit with a fedora, some Styrofoam and some silver paint. Cut the Styrofoam into a large triangle, and glue it to the back of your suit jacket to act as a shark's dorsal fin. You also can paint your face silver and get some fake vampire teeth to mimic shark teeth. Stick fake money in all your pockets, using large bills. You can even stuff a fake fish or two in your pockets with the money.
- Create an angelic mermaid costume that only the most clever will understand. You'll need gold wire or star garland for a halo, an iridescent white shirt with flowing sleeves and a mermaid tail skirt. Wear your hair down and flowing, and draw small, sparkly scales around your eyes and on your hands. If you want to make the costume less cumbersome, wear an iridescent white tank top along with fake angel wings and the fins.
