Make Money Blogging: Get Personal and the Profits Will Roll In
The business of blogging can be extremely rewarding and profitable with the right mindset.
What do I mean? You CAN make money writing your own blog.
But if you start blogging with the main goal to make money, you've already slowed your success down.
Your goal, as a blogger, is to create a following...
a community of people who want be like you, read what you have to say and are compelled to come back to your blog day after day.
Why is this important? People visit and read content from YOU.
They're not visiting your site for the site...
and they certainly don't visit to be sold.
People buy from people, not from stores.
Oprah has a massive following right? In fact, she's so well respected by her community that all she has to do is say "buy this shirt" and her followers will do just that.
They trust her.
They love her.
She is a rockstar to them.
That is what you want to be for your blog.
The rockstar.
The person your readers respect, like and follow.
When you have this community they will trust you and they will buy from you.
So, how do you become a rockstar? Well, obviously, you're not going to start a band.
Well...
I guess you COULD but that's not what I mean.
You need to get personal.
Write your content with honesty and sincerity.
Write it with personal stories.
Share.
Be transparent.
And of course, provide valuable content that is compelling.
When you do this, you begin to build a relationship with your readers...
and this builds trust.
When they trust you, they will do whatever you tell them to do.
Getting Personal Is The Key To Make Money Blogging...
I am a active blogger on Empower Network...
but I have other blogs.
Or should I say HAD other blogs.
All, but one failed.
By failed, I mean they got traffic, but no one subscribed to my list or commented.
After a while, I burned out and shut them down.
But ONE blog was successful.
It wasn't at first.
In fact, I almost quit at this one too.
But I had this moment...
this one moment...
when I had a break through.
I decided, before I quit this blog, I'm going to write my subscriber list and tell them.
I'm going to be honest and just be myself.
I didn't sell them anything.
I just wrote them a letter as if they were old friends.
I apologized to them and explained all the very honest reasons why I was going to shut the blog down.
And guess what happened? I received hundreds of emails telling me that they sincerely appreciated my openness...
my honesty...
my willingness to open up...
that not only did they encourage me to keep going, they visited my site and bought stuff.
I was one of my highest pay days to date.
All I did was be myself...
got a little personal...
and that turned the corner for me and my subscribers.
They liked me.
They felt comfortable with me.
After that...
I changed my style and wrote to my readers on a personal level.
I shared personal triumphs and opinions...
life stories...
whatever I could share for them to feel like they knew me.
And when this happens...
it's like magic.
You build this community that trusts you.
So, when you tell them to buy...
they are far far less resistant.
They no longer see you as this blogger trying to constantly sell them stuff...
They feel respected...
and loved...
If you are a blogger, building trust will go a long way to strengthening your readership and for readers to believe in what you say.
This will only help your customer base grow, your traffic to your blog to increase and honestly...
you will enjoy your business so much more! By being personal and honest with your readers, they will not feel scammed.
No one likes to get pulled in by content that thought would be valuable only to be hit left and right with cold product offers and hard sales.
Yuck.
No thank you.
Hey, I'm not saying you shouldn't try to make money blogging...
all I'm saying is you will do your blog justice by letting your personality shine through and focus on building a community that trusts you.
Then the sell is easy.
