How to Draw Raccoons
- 1). Draw a sideways-lying oval in the center of your paper. This serves as the main body of your raccoon, so make it as large or as small as you want, just keep in mind that too large means you won't have the space you need for adding in the rest of the animal and too small means you might not be able to show much detail in the final art.
- 2). Draw another oval that's half the body's size on top of the first oval's top right "corner." Erase the overlapping lines to give the appearance of two individual ovals, the second of which serves as your raccoon's head. Lightly draw a plus sign inside the perimeter of the head to create a guideline for adding in the facial features in a later step.
- 3). Add three smaller sideways ovals to indicate the raccoon's paws. Two should be on top of the bottom line on the body: one on the front, the other near the rear, respectively. Erase the overlapping lines. Add the final oval slightly over the front paw to give your raccoon the appearance of depth, as well as to show that the animal is hunkered down and lying close to the ground. Erase the overlapping line.
- 4). Draw two large parallel curved "S" lines onto the back of the animal to show its bushy tail; join the two lines together at a point to finish fleshing out the tail. Add in the eyes, nose and mouth on the face; the plus sign will help you keep the features symmetrical. Erase the plus sign once you're satisfied with the face.
- 5). Add two triangles to be the ears and two triangles on either side of the mouth to create the raccoon's whiskers. Draw in the raccoon's "mask" and add ringed stripes to the tail. Look over your drawing and erase any errant lines you may have made. If desired, trace your final art in black ink to make your raccoon stand out on the page.
