What Do I Say to Network For a Job - Without Feeling Needy, Awkward, Or Pushy

Were going to create a script that will make the task easier.
The reason for a script is so that we can sound casual and relaxed when we talk to them.
We also don't want to waste other people's time when we talk to them and we don't want to make them or ourselves feel awkward, needy, or pushy.
What we need is a scripted dialogue that feels casual and not anything more than a friendly call or chat to ask a few questions.
Just think of it as a call your making to ask about the new mini-van they bought because you're interested in buying one yourself.
You are interested in the mileage, the cost the features and benefits that came with the new van.
You are also going to be interested in their opinion; do they think you would like that van? They would probably know because they know you, they probably know if you have kids, if you haul boxes to church or if you are a soccer mom who would likely benefit from owning a van like theirs.
That is the type of call and feel of the conversation you are going to make.
This should be casual and relaxed; it's just an information gathering call about their place of employment.
Start by asking if your friend has time because you want to ask them a few questions about their work.
If they ask 'Why?' just tell them.
I'm asking because I'm thinking about going to work there.
This works because it's the truth and it's simple, just segue into asking some questions about there company and job.
Here are a few questions you could ask; o Hey how did you get a job their? o Who does the hiring? o What do you like most/least about the company? o What's coming up in the next 3 - 6 months? o Do you think I would like working their? While you may be tempted to ask hundreds of questions, don't.
Just ask a few and give them time to answer because that alone may take 20 - 30 minutes.
That's all you need, any longer and you will both lose interest in the conversation and begin to change the topic.
When getting them to talk about their work we should occasionally say 'That's interesting' or "Tell me more" or even ask 'Why?' while sharing a few bits of info about ourselves.
Use these phrases because they encourage others to continue to share information about their place of work and that's what we want.
That's What To Say To Network For a Job - Without Feeling Needy, Awkward, or Pushy.
Good Luck and let me know if I can help.
