How to Disable an Address Bar
- 1). Go to the "Start" menu, click "Run," then type "regedit" at the command line.
Press Enter or "OK" to confirm. - 2). Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive, then expand the following subkeys: "Software" >"Policies" > "Microsoft."
- 3). Right click on the "Microsoft" folder, select "New" from the drop-down menu, then select "Key." A new key or folder is created under the "Microsoft" folder.
Rename the new folder by right clicking on it, click "Rename" and enter "Internet Explorer" for its new name. - 4). Follow the same process as in Step 3 to create a new folder (key) under the "Internet Explorer" folder and name it "Toolbars."
- 5). Repeat the same step to create a last folder under the "Toolbars" folder and name it "Restrictions."
- 6). Click on the "Restrictions" folder. Right click on an empty space on the right pane. Select "New" from the drop-down menu, then select "DWORD Value."
A New Value is created on the right pane. Rename it "NoAddressBar" and press Enter. - 7). Double-click on "NoAddressBar." The "Edit DWORD Value" window opens up. Enter the number "1" in the "Value data" text field, then press "OK" to confirm the changes.
- 8). Close the Registry and restart your computer.
