The Need For Air Conditioning Is Imparative

Dan moved from Northeast to Southeast in order to purse his career. He was a nurse and thought that because of the high percentage of elderly people that moved or spent their winters in the south, that there would always be a demand for work. The only unfortunate part of his move was that he had never spent time in a climate that was quite as hot as the Southeast could be, especially in the humid summer months. When researching his move, he thought it was amusing that a lot of apartments offered air conditioning, but no heat. That was a concept that was totally foreign in the Northeast, where the winters were fierce and very cold. Exactly opposite of what he was accustomed to, where heat was mandatory and air was a luxury. The first couple places he looked at, he asked about the lack of heat, and he got a lot of uncomprehending looks and funny stares when he expressed his concern about it.

Figuring that if no one else was worried about it, hopefully it was not going to be a problem, he moved in November, and it was very pleasant. He thought for sure he had scored a vacation lifestyle. The first few months he went through a little bit of climate withdrawal, but for the most part, he really enjoyed his time. He found a job that allowed him to work a regular week plus as many hours extra as he wanted. His clients were great and he was settling into his new community, meeting people, and becoming involved in activities.

Then came the warm up to the hot months, and he was never more happy to have regularly serviced air conditioning in his building that could always be relied upon. It became so hot, and for him even worse was the humidity. Everywhere he went he sweat instantly and constantly found himself rushing from one climate controlled space to the next. He would sometimes break out in laughter because most places he went he carried a zip-up hoodie because the air conditioning in major public places was so strong that it made him cold. So he would run from his car sweating in a t-shirt, get inside a building, and ten minutes later be wearing a sweatshirt and still shivering. He constantly wondered if, over time, he would ever get used to the outdoor climate, or the indoor extremes. And as he found out over that first winter, there really was no need for heat in his apartment, but there was no way that anyone could live without air conditioning!
