You may have noticed that more people now seem to be wearing eye glasses and contact lenses then ever before.
There are two main reasons for this; first of all more individuals are having their eyes tested, and secondly our modern lives put more strain on our eyes.
Sitting in front of a computer monitor or TV screen all day can alter the eye muscles that we use to be able to focus and read.
If you think that your vision has deteriorated of late then it is useful to understand how to improve eyesight.
To begin with it is important to exercise our eyes.
In some ways our eyes are no different than any other muscle.
Without regular exercise our body falls into bad shape and it is the same for our eyes.
If you constantly repeat the same task then your eyes will get used to that particular ability.
One of the methods to improve eyesight is to practice staring at an object in the distance for five or ten seconds and then switching to a close up object.
This will improve the strength and flexibility of your eye muscles.
If because of your job you have no option but to sit in front of a computer all day then it is still important to rest your eyes.
When we concentrate on an image close to our faces we have a tendency to blink less.
It is important to close your eyes for a minute or two after every few hours of computer use to let your eyes recover.
Also make sure that the screen is at an angle that does not produce extra strain, research has shown that the top of the monitor should be level with your line of vision.
Diet can also be used to enhance eyesight.
Certain foods such as carrots and spinach have the right dosage of vitamins to improve vision if eaten regularly.
Also hydration is essential to keep your eyes moist.
