    • 1). Press the Windows logo and "R" keys to display the "Run" dialog box. Type "regedit" without quotation marks in the box and press "Enter." The registry editor opens.

    • 2). Use the folder structure in the left pane of the window to navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE," "SOFTWARE," "Microsoft," "Windows NT," "CurrentVersion" and "Winlogon." Click the "Winlogon" folder.

    • 3). Double click "LogonType" in the right pane of the window. If your computer is currently using the Welcome Screen to manage user logins and logouts, the current number displayed under value data will be "1."

    • 4). Change the number under "Value data" to "0" to disable the Welcome Screen and return to the traditional login box.

    • 5). Click "OK," close the registry editor and restart the computer.
