How to Avoid Killing Toads When Mowing Grass
- 1). Cut the grass only on dry, warm days. Toads are less likely to be exploring the yard during dry weather.
- 2). Raise the blades on your lawnmower so they are not low enough to hit any unsuspecting wildlife. Cutting your grass to 3 inches is typically high enough to clear any toads near the soil.
- 3). Cut the grass during midday. Toads generally come out during the morning and evening hours, when the weather is not as oppressively hot and the ground is moistened by dew.
