With the supremacy that Italy enjoys in the world of fashion, it is but natural that the iconic Italian fashion designers are considered to be the trendsetters by many fashion lovers. In fact, Italy is home to some of the most popular and best designers of the world, whose work and craftsmanship has not only been accepted and recognized by fashion pundits, but has also become the style statement for almost every prominent personality. Hosting a number of extravagant fashion events each year, anyone with a little bit of fashion know-how would know that Italy's stature in the international fashion industry is unmatched.

Some Iconic Italian Fashion Designers:
There is no dearth of iconic Italian fashion designers, who have been ruling the industry for decades. Some of the prominent Italian designers include:

Giorgio Armani:
Rising to prominence during the mid-1970s, Giorgio Armani is counted among the topmost moguls in the industry. His stunning designs are a statement of elegance and have been worn by almost any celebrity that one can think of. Although only limited to a clothing line initially, Armani later expanded his foray into fashion accessories like footwear, scents, sunshades and even intimate wear, proving to the world that the basic definition of fashion goes beyond the clothes one wears.
He is thought to be the king of both male and female clothing, with his masterpiece ensembles donned by leading film actors like Tom Cruise, Richard Gere, Jodie Foster and Jack Nicholson.

Dolce and Gabbana:
A combined brainchild of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, both of whom worked together as assistant designers at a design studio, you can very well imagine the cumulative products created by two of the most iconic Italian fashion designers of all times. Appearing on the fashion scene in the year 1982, it took both of these designers three years of sheer hard work before they managed to finally make a mark in the 1985 Milan fashion show, where their collection was selected among the top three. From there onwards, the brand took off and reached incredible heights of fame, class and popularity.
Right from celebrities to entrepreneurs, Dolce and Gabbana has managed to become a favourite brand for all and sundry during the three decades that it has been in business. Having a number of branches in different parts of the world, the label is still hard at work to bring out better and more revolutionary concepts in style.

Roberto Cavalli:
Much like the late Alexander McQueen, Roberto Cavalli has been renowned for his fearless experimentation with a wide range of fabrics. His statement pieces stand out from the rest due to their innovative concepts and interesting blends that have never been seen before. In fact, Cavalli is the most obvious choice for those who are not afraid of taking style risks and flaunt them with equal panache. His collection is an all-round assortment of male and female apparel, accessories and a separate clothing line for children among others. Cavalli's craftsmanship in leather products is also recognized worldwide.
