How to Draw a Flower Ring
- 1). Insert a pencil into a compass. Determine how large you want the circumference of your flower ring to be. Adjust the compass accordingly. Pull the pencil and the metal point away from each other to create a larger ring; draw them closer together to create a smaller ring.
- 2). Place the point of the compass on a sheet of paper. Lightly twirl the compass around, leaving a barely-visible ring in pencil on the sheet of paper. Avoid making the ring too dark, as it serves as a guide over which you will draw your flowers, and you may want to erase it later.
- 3). Decide what types of flowers you want to feature on the flower ring. Consider roses, daisies and lilies. Mix various types of flowers, or focus on just one variety. Examine images of flowers in magazines, books and on Websites to get ideas and obtain models for drawing.
- 4). Draw flowers over the pencil ring you created with the compass. Cover the entire ring with flowers. Incorporate leaves, stems, vines or other greenery into the flower ring if you wish.
- 5). Refer to the images of flowers you have obtained if you need guidelines for what to draw. Draw what you see. Move your gaze back and forth between your drawing and the images of flowers you are using as guidelines. Use fine, light strokes with your drawing pencil, so that you can erase and refine your drawing if necessary.
- 6). Place your white paper directly over the images of the flowers you are using as a guideline. Trace them in pencil if you desire. Tracing can be a good alternative to drawing the flowers freehand if you are not a confident drawer; it can also help you to develop drawing skills.
- 7). Erase any traces of the initial pencil ring you made on the paper, if it shows through the flowers you have drawn over it.
