Can You Plant Zoysia in Minnesota?

104 2

    Growing Season

    • Zoysia has a short growing season in Minnesota. The grass turns colors at the first sign of frost and will not turn green again until late in the spring.

    Appearance

    • Zoysia grows slowly in the north, leading to a patchy appearance instead of a green expanse of lawn. The blades of zoysia grass are coarse and stiff, making them uncomfortable to walk on.

    Removal

    • If you have planted zoysia in Minnesota, you can use herbicide to remove it. Apply a product containing glyphosate when the lawn is green, following the manufacturer's directions.
