How to Install Rain X Weatherbeater J Hooks
- 1). Purchase your new windshield wipers. You can find Rain X Weatherbeater wipers at auto supply stores and some mass-market retailers. The Weatherbeater line is relatively inexpensive, with prices for each wiper at about $10, as of 2010. Most stores that sell Rain X wipers will have a book to help you determine the correct size wiper for your car. Look up your car by make and model and purchase the corresponding wiper length for your driver and passenger sides.
- 2). Pull the old wipers away from the windshield so that you can access them more easily. Locate the tiny lever in the middle of the wiper. Push it down firmly. You may need to use a screwdriver to push it down hard enough to release the wiper from the arm to which it's attached.
- 3). Apply pressure on the wiper and slide it along the arm until it comes off. Repeat this process with the other wiper.
- 4). Remove your new wipers from their packaging. Rain X Weatherbeater wipers come ready to install.
- 5). Slide your driver-side wiper's J-shaped hook onto the driver-side arm until you hear it pop into place. You may need to apply firm pressure as you slide the wiper. Repeat this process on the passenger side. Move the wipers into their normal positions against your windshield.
- 6). Check that both wipers are applied correctly by jiggling them in place to be sure that they are firmly attached to their arms. Get in your car, close the door and turn on your windshield wipers to be sure that they function properly.
