Lead Meetings

• The Cub Scout leader is first and foremost responsible for organizing and running the weekly meetings of their respective dens. After being approved by the Cubmaster, the leader will provide leadership for the group and will carry out the program activities. Each month the den leaders will sit at and participate in a roundtable meeting with other den leaders in the pack and will also act as the activity leader for his den in the monthly pack meetings.
  
  

Recruiting

• The den leader is responsible for recruitment of new Cub Scout members. This may involve talking to children and their parents or guardians to share the benefits of Cub Scout membership. This is the primary job of the Cubmaster, but den leaders in the pack will assist the Cubmaster in recruiting as needed.
  
  

Develop Programs and Activities

• The den leader will help carrying out current programs, but she will also need to aid in the development of new ideas for programs in the future. The den leader must have a firm grasp of the wants and needs of her members and use that knowledge to come up with activities and program direction that will best benefit her group.
  
  

Collect Dues

• Cub Scout members pay dues to the organization, and sometimes there are fees for some activities. It is the den leader's job to inform members of the group and their parents about the money requirements and to collect the money. Some den leaders may also assist those who may not be able to afford the dues.
  
  

Communicate With Families

• The Cub Scout den leader should encourage participation among the members and make sure no one is being left out. He will also encourage participation from parents, especially positive male role models like fathers or grandfathers.
  
  

Set an Example

• The den leader should set a positive example for the members of her group. She should always exhibit the moral, educational and emotional standards of the organization at all times to promote the same in the Cub Scouts she leads.
