    • 1). Request a NetFile access code. The Net File access code is a four-digit code you need to access and use the NetFile system. You can obtain your access code from your T1 personal income tax return package. You will need your Social Security number, birth date and the number you entered on Line 150 of your 2009 tax return to request your access code.

    • 2). Prepare your return. Use a commercial tax preparation software package or web application certified for NetFile to prepare your tax forms.

    • 3). Log in to the NetFile website at www.netfile.gc.ca. Click on the "Ready to File" link to start filing your Netfile.

    • 4). Agree to the terms and conditions for using NetFile.

    • 5). Complete the NetFile transmission page. Enter your Social Security number, birth date and NetFile access code on the transmission page to get your NetFile started.

    • 6). Attach your tax documents. On page two of the NetFile filing, attach your ".tax" document that you prepared with the software or online web application.

    • 7). Agree to the final information page and submit your tax returns using NetFile.

    • 8). Print the confirmation page. NetFile checks your submission for errors before accepting it into the system. This automatically occurs when you hit the submit button. If there are errors, the program will alert you of the errors so you can go back and correct them. You will not be able to submit your NetFile until you correct the errors.
