Starting a Home Based Business on the Internet - 5 Paths to Avoid

103 11
Starting an MLM or home based business and promoting it through the Internet does not have to be a mystery.
You just need a guide to direct you down the right path.
Following are the paths you should avoid, with corrections to keep you from losing your way.
Paths to avoid:
  1. Picking the wrong Product of Service to sell.
  2. Using the Corporate website.
  3. Approaching your friends, neighbors and relatives.
  4. Not driving enough traffic to your business.
  5. Not having the proper tools to market online.
Step carefully when on Path #1: Find a product or service you can resonate with, but also one where you can actually survive on their commissions.
Many offer so low a commission that you literally have to sell, and or recruit, hundreds to thousands of people, on an ongoing basis.
This can be daunting, even for the seasoned marketer, especially when you consider the attrition rate within any program.
To ensure you're on the right path, make sure the product or service has real value, not hyped up value.
Also, analyze their compensation plan carefully.
You want to see some sort of high paying leveraged compensation.
Veer from Path number 2: Take the path less traveled of a Branded Website over a Corporate Website.
Most corporate websites do not have systems in place (opt-in form) for you to capture a visitors information so YOU (not the company) can continue to communicate with them on an ongoing basis, offering them more information, more help, more data on supplying their wants and needs.
Most people do not buy on their first visit.
By you continuing to supply ongoing value to them, you have a better chance of making a sale when they are ready to buy, versus losing them to your competition.
Here's the good news.
Creating a branded website is not a big deal any longer, and can even be done for under $100.
Walk away from Path number 3: Wait until you are successful.
If you are approaching your Friends, Neighbors, Relatives, you could obviously send them directly to your corporate website.
And some may buy.
The problem will be...
you'll run out of those people very fast! You need an ongoing source of potential prospects.
That's where the Internet comes in, a virtually unlimited source.
Wait until you are successful "online", before you approach these people.
Better would be to wait for them to come to you.
And they will when they don't see you driving to work every morning.
Remember...
you're working from home now, and only a few hours a day.
Jump Over Path 4: Sales is a numbers game, so find the path where prospects are plenty.
You must send at least 30 to 50 people to your site on a daily basis.
Otherwise you end up on a dangerous path that leads to a slippery slope of death.
Use Paid and Free Internet sources.
The fastest way to put your site in front of millions of people is through PPC (Pay Per Click) Advertising.
You see this every time you do a search on the internet.
(The ads on the right side of your results page.
) You can place an ad right now for just a few pennies, or for few dollars, depending on the keyword you chose for your ad.
You only pay when someone clicks on your ad to see what it's about.
There are also free ways to drive traffic, but that and will have to be in another article.
Skip Path 5: You won't get far if you're trying to do everything manually.
Realize that you will need to set a few automated tools in place to market yourself on the internet.
Some tools do have a price tag, but that's the cost of running any business.
Fortunately, it isn't anywhere near the cost of having a brick and mortar business with a lease, utilities, payroll, etc.
What's the most important tool you will need? An auto-responder: Most prospects do not buy the first time they visit a website.
This inexpensive tool (approx.
$20 month) will enable you to stay in contact, by email, with every single person that visits your websites (from an opt-in form), on an ongoing basis, automatically.
As they continue to see you offering more valuable information, the odds increase that they will eventually buy from you.
Do not attempt this manually.
It would be virtually impossible due to time constraints alone.
These automated email follow-ups will give you freedom to play and spend time with your family and on other interests.
Your business will now work for you, 24 hours a day.
That's the advantage of the Internet!
