How to Split an XLS File
- 1). Split the file using Excel Split Files Into Multiple Smaller Files Software from Sobolsoft. This basic utility takes the information from your large file and then sections it off at specified rows according to your selections. Add the Excel File to the work list, then click "Split" to complete the task. Keep in mind that this option is compatible only with Excel 2000 or later.
- 2). Import the Excel sheet into Microsoft Access as another option for splitting the file (located on the "Import" or "External Data" menu on the Access toolbar). Once you have the Excel information in Access, you can use the Table Analyzer wizard to split the information into smaller tables. When finished navigating the wizard, use the "Export" menu to export each table back to the Excel format.
- 3). Use the FXFisherman's CSV Splitter v1.1 by Sopheap LY to split your Excel files. To perform the split, you must first save the Excel file with a CSV extension (click "File," then "Save as," on the main menu). Upload the Excel CSV file, then enter the number of lines that you want in each new, smaller file. After hitting "Split Now!" the utility processes the action and saves your new files to your folder.
