Chinese Herbs for Joint & Muscle Pain
- Sang Zhi, or Ramulus Morus albi, or white mulberry twig, is an anti-spasmodic and anti-rheumatic herb that will help to relieve pain in the upper part of the body. It's commonly used for rheumatoid arthritis.
- Also called Siler Root, or Ledebouriellae divaricatae, it's known for its abilities to expel "wind-dampness" from the body. It also can treat headaches, body aches, diarrhea, chills and lockjaw.
- Its scientific name is Curcuma longa, and it's known for its ability to act on the blood flow, freeing the vessels and allowing blood to flow. Joint pain that's the result of poor circulation is often aided or cured through this herb.
- Clematis chinensis, or Clematis root, clears stasis channels and allows blood to flow more freely. It's often used in conjunction with Jiang Huang for joint pain, arthritis and muscle spasms.
- Many holistic TCM doctors recommend krill oil for back and joint pain. Along with many fatty acids, krill oil contains vitamins A, D and E. It's anti-oxidant properties are more potent than fish oil, and substances found in it protect the skin against damaging UV rays.
