Whether it is for the purpose of teaching your children about Catholicism or just giving your children Catholic reading material, there are a ton of books on this topic. Many book stores will have at least a small section dedicated to Catholic children stories, but if you are having trouble finding them, there are many online retailers waiting to serve you. - Perhaps the most common type of children's book on the subject of Catholicism is the Bible story. There are many varieties of these books. They can be abridged versions of the Catholic Bible or selections of stories. These books are often less intimidating than actual Bibles, because they have brightly colored pictures and minimal text. These stories will not only entertain, but will teach your children important Biblical stories and lessons.
- As sainthood is an important tenant of Catholicism, there are many books that talk about the lives of saints. Some books are about the life of a particular saint while others focus on many saints. There also are books directed at certain genders, such as "Lives of the Saints for Boys" and "Lives of the Saints for Girls," both written by Louis M. Savary. As the lives of Saints are seldom dull, these are great reads and give children positive Catholic role models.
- Other books focus on the modern Catholic way of life not found in the Bible. For example, stories, such as "Angel in the Waters" by Regina Doman, have a pro-life lesson for children to learn in its colorful pages. These books are found in local Catholic stores more often than in corporate ones.
