Signs of Water Damage on a 20 Gig iPod
- For many people, an iPod is like an extension of their limbs. Inevitably, a device that we take everywhere can be subject to an unfortunate accident, such as water or liquid damage. Water damage can be reversed in some instances; however, it is not covered by any Apple warranty plan. Take heed to the following telltale warning signs of water damage that may make your inoperable.
- If the screen does not turn on---or changes to different hues of green or rainbow colors---this could be a sign that there is water in your device. Quickly turn it off to prevent further damage to your product.
- iPods and iPhone models made after 2006 have a liquid contact indicator inside of your music player's headphone jack. Using a flashlight, look inside of the headphone jack. If you notice that the circular dot is totally red, that is an indication that the music player has been damaged by water.
- Corrosion of the metal parts of an iPod are indicators that water has damaged your product. Check the bottom part where you plug in your USB cord as well as the headphone jack for deterioration.
