How to Find a Good Lung Doctor
- 1). Go the word-of-mouth route. Ask friends, family and business associates whether they can recommend a good lung doctor. You'll be surprised how many people will say, "My mother used Dr. Jones and loved him," or on the other hand, "Whoever you go to, avoid Dr. Smith."
- 2). Contact a pulmonary support group in your area. The people in these groups will have firsthand knowledge about the lung doctors in the community.
- 3). Ask your primary physician to recommend a lung doctor. If there is more than one name on the list, ask this personal question: "If you needed a lung doctor for yourself or a family member, which one would you choose?"
- 4). Check on the qualifications and licensing status of the lung doctors you are considering. In some states you can even find about court actions involving physicians. See the Resources section below.
