FM Transmitter

• 1). Purchase an FM transmitter that is compatible with your iPod Nano.
  
  
• 2). Arrange your FM transmitter device near your car stereo. Some FM transmitters need to be plugged into your car's cigarette lighter or electrical outlet. Others come with a stand or tape so they can be connected to your dash or near your stereo.
  
  
• 3). Connect the iPod Nano to the FM transmitter. If the FM transmitter also charges the iPod Nano, you will have to insert the bottom of the iPod Nano into the dock connector on the transmitter. Other transmitters may connect to your Nano's earphone jack. (Refer to your transmitter's user guide for specific instructions.)
  
  
• 4). Tune the radio station to a frequency that is only static. Most transmitters come with a list of suggested stations in their user guides. Then use the + and - buttons on your transmitter to tune the device to the same frequency.
  
  
• 5). Turn on your iPod Nano. Browse through your playlists and find a song to play. If you don't hear the song being played through the radio, make sure the volume on your iPod Nano is turned up and check the volume on your car stereo. You may also need to locate a new frequency that works better with your transmitter and iPod Nano.
  
  

AUX Input

• 1). Find the AUX port. The AUX port is a small, single hole where you would insert a set of headphones. (Many newer car stereos are configured to play MP3 players. You may be required to simply connect the device to the stereo's dock connector and then press the iPod or AUX option. Refer to your user manual.)
  
  
• 2). Plug one end of your 3.5mm stereo cable into the AUX port on your car stereo. Then insert the other end of the cable into your iPod Nano's earphone jack at the top of the device.
  
  
• 3). Turn on your iPod.
  
  
• 4). Enable input to your car stereo from your AUX port. Enabling this option varies depending on your stereo. You may be required to hit your Menu button and browse through the options (FM, AM, CD, and so on) until you find AUX.
  
  
• 5). Turn on your iPod Nano. Browse through your playlists and find a song to play. If you don't hear the song being played through the stereo, make sure the volume on your iPod Nano is turned up and check the volume on your car stereo.
