How to Remove Masking Paint

    • 1). Check that the masking paint has completely dried on the drawing or canvas. Removing the paint prematurely risks smudging it and ruining the work.

    • 2). Rub the masking paint lightly with your finger. Use gentle circular motions to release it. Press more firmly until the masking paint comes off in little balls. Do not rub hard or excessively, or the painting may be damaged.

    • 3). You can also use an eraser to remove the masking paint. Hold the eraser in one hand, and steady the canvas securely with the other. Gently rub the masking paint with the eraser to remove it.

    • 4). Slide a sharp tool such as a stencil knife underneath the edges of the masking paint to release it. Be careful to avoid cutting the paper or scraping the colored paint around the masking paint.

    • 5). Peel off the masking paint with your fingers or with tweezers. Be gentle in pulling it back to prevent tearing the paper.
