For a blog to be profitable, it should provide information and solutions to a group of people who want information and solutions about a specific area.
This group of people is easy to reach, and willing to pay for the solutions which the blog is providing.
Niche marketing is therefore a must if you want to achieve success with your blogging in a very short time.
You need to find a group of people who are facing the same problem, derive an idea for a product or service that will solve this problem.
The more critical the problem is, and the more desperate people are looking for a solution to solve the problem, the more successful you'll be when you present a suitable solution to these people.
The next thing you'll need to research on is if there are enough of these people who are facing a particular problem and are looking for a solution.
You can use a keyword tool to see if people are using at least 30 popular keyword phrases to search for solutions in a particular niche.
Then, you'll need to check if each keyword phrase is drawing at least 300 to 500 searches a month.
Next, you'll want to look at whether there are other sites or blogs which are competing for those keyword phrases.
Contrary to what many people think, very little or no competition isn't necessarily a good thing.
No competition could and often does mean that it's not a profitable niche.
What you actually want is some competition, but relatively weak competition that you can beat by making a better site, providing better content and in a better way.
  The final piece of the puzzle of finding a good niche, is whether the niche has a quality product for you to promote.
When you've found a quality product or service to promote, check if the affiliate product is accompanied by high quality, persuasive marketing salescopy that will convert your traffic well and pay you a decent commission.
