Every city has city council members, which are elected by the citizens to run their city and there is always a little bit of mudslinging when it comes to local politics.
And since all politics is local, the restless masses can get fairly vocal.
But in all this sound and fury, endorsements, grassroots campaigns and endless number of new candidates vying for a seat on the local city council, one question comes to mind; "Exactly What Does You City Council Candidate Stand for?" In this article I will attempt to address this issue and use a local example, as a case study.
The Ted Mertens Indian Wells Candidate Campaign provides just a perfect example for such a Case Study.
Ted has moved to Indian Wells in his retirement.
If you are not familiar with Indian wells it is a desert resort community.
The city is well run and almost complete built out.
There are very few empty lots left and thus, development is a huge issue.
The local citizens want it done right and they want the city to be safe too.
Ted Mertens was the police chief for a much larger city in California during his career and thus, he understands the ins and outs of public safety.
Indeed, he has run a budget with the police department that is larger than the entire city budget for Indian Wells.
Obviously, such a candidate stands for public safety having spent his career protecting the people.
Ted Mertens also stands for growth, but growth that makes sense, fits the neighborhood and uplifts the city without creating a future congestion issue or bringing in the wrong element into the community.
What does your city council candidate stand for? Think on this.
