Who to Follow on Twitter

Twitter is one social networking site growing at an alarming rate.
With so many people using the service, it can be a little overwhelming to someone who is new.
How do you know who to follow? It's not always easy to tell just from a profile and it's also difficult sometimes just to find profiles worth considering in the first place.
If you're new to Twitter or even if you've been around awhile but not sure who to follow or why, here are some ideas to help you get the most from your Twitter experience:
  • People who share similar interests.
  • People with the same name (this can be fun; I have like 50 Lisa's on my list)
  • People who live in your area.
  • People who share your beliefs or moral values.
  • People on your email contact list (Twitter allows you to search for this).
  • Follow your Follow Friday recommendations from other people you follow.
While these seem like some basic and simple ways to find people to follow on Twitter, there are also some more creative ways.
For example, you might look for someone who doesn't have the same interests or beliefs as you.
This can be a great way to gain some stimulating conversation or learn something new.
You might also try following certain news feeds or information feeds.
The more time you spend on Twitter, the more great people you will find to follow.
Just remember that you should never follow someone for the sole intentions of getting a follow-back and also remember that you can unfollow people at any time.
If you try someone out and then discover that you don't like their tweets or don't find them helpful to you, or that the person is a spammer, you can just remove them.
