Murals depict the art form of Hindu temples and display the portraits of Kochi rulers. Founded by Portuguese during medieval era, the palace was presented to Veera Kerala Varma. He was Kochi ruler in the year 1555 A.D. While constructing Palace, traditional Kerala architectural style called "Nalukettu" was used, however, the influence of European architecture can also be seen. The complex of palace has a courtyard and a temple shrine dedicated to €Pazhayannur Bhagavati' in the middle. There are two other temples devoted to Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna.
Jewish Synagogue - It is the oldest synagogue of Commonwealth Nations founded by Malabar Yehudan people in the year 1568 is located next to Mattancherry Palace Temple. Malabar Yehudan was the Jewish Synagogue of Cochin. Jewish Synagogue is also famous as Paradesi Synagogue and situated in the Jew Town area of Old Cochin. The complex of this Synagogue houses four building s of historical significance which are still in use.
Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica - Another architectural marvel built by Portuguese. In the year 1558 this church got the status of Cathedral by Pope Paul IV. In the later period it was destructed by Britishers only to rebuild in 1887 by Bishop Dom Gomez Vereira. The church was elevated as basilica by the Pope John Paul II in 1984.
Kochi International Marina - Yet another ideal place to explore the sea via yachts. Yes, this breathtaking place is the stop for yachts in Kochi. The marina sits adjacent to the historic Bolgatty Palace Hotel.
Pallipuram Fort - Located in the extreme side of Vypeen Island, Pallipuram Fort is India's oldest European Fort commissioned by Portuguese in 1503 A.D. and conquered by Dutch in the year 1661. Dutch further sold it to Travancore state. The fort is renowned for its architectural style.
