Here's how each of these factors play a part in drying out the skin: The first factor is aging.
Normally, to keep our skin moist, our body naturally produces oils internally that are then released through the layers of our skin and keep our skin moist and supple.
As we age, this natural process slows down and our skin is deprived of oils and nutrients, leading to dryness.
The environment also plays a role in our skin via humidity.

Be sure to take the time to use moisturizer during the winter months.
Our genes also play a role in dry skin.
Our genes determine how well our skin retains moisture and also influences how active our sweat glands are - you ever notice how some people sweat very easily while others hardly break a sweat when doing the same activity? If your skin does not hold moisture well, or if you do not easily sweat, extra time should be set aside for moisturizing.
The products that we use everyday can also contribute to dry skin.
Everyday products such as household cleaners and detergents contain chemicals that can damage the skin.
These products are fortified to be a strong cleaning agent on floors, surfaces, clothing, etc, to get rid of dirt and grime, and likewise can do a good amount of damage to your skin if you have direct contact.
So when using these products, try to avoid direct contact with the skin, and wash and moisturize after using.
To maintain a healthy and youthful looking skin, it is essential to take care of your skin properly.
Here are some simple skin care tips that you might want to consider: Now that you know what leads to dry skin, it's important to know how to combat it.
Be sure to keep your skin moisturized at all times - first thing in the morning, before you go to bed, and especially after bathing while your skin is damp (to lock the moisture in).
While it's impossible to avoid all the above-mentioned factors that contribute to dry skin, you can certainly take measures to limit their effects.
