How to Make a Remote Connection With Windows Vista
- 1). Right-click "Computer" within Windows Explorer and select "Properties."
- 2). Select "Remote Settings" from the System Control panel that launches. Select the "Remote" tab.
- 3). Enable Remote Assistance by clicking the related box. Enable "Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop(less secure)" if you may be connected with versions of Windows other than Vista. Select the more secure option if you are solely going to use Vista.
- 4). Select "Select Users..." and type in the name of the users to whom you would like to grant remote access. Select "OK," then "Apply" to finish setting up a remote connection.
- 5). Open "Remote Desktop Connection" on the computer you are using to remotely access the computer you just set up. Remote Desktop Connection is located within "Accessories," accessed via the Start menu.
- 6). Enter the name of the computer or IP address of the computer. Select "Connect" to connect to the computer.
