Dr. Dolittle 3 - Guide Review

Dr. Dolittle 3 continues the story of the famous Dolittle who can talk to animals. Only this time, the story is about Maya (Kyla Pratt), Dr. Dolittle's daughter. She too has inherited the miraculous ability to talk to animals, but sometimes her blessing seems more like a curse.

When Maya's special skills get her into trouble and her desire to fit in compounds the problem, her mother decides she needs a little break. To Maya's dismay, she is sent off to a dude ranch for the summer. Can this awful place really be the key to finding out who she really is?

The new DVD in the Dolittle saga contains some cute comedy and a lot of heart - along with a lot of fluff. In other words, pre-teen girls will love it! The movie takes boy craziness to somewhat of an extreme; but Kyla Pratt is adorable as Maya, and her character's summer adventure portrays a strong moral about being true to one's self.

Dr. Dolittle 3 - Note to Parents

While I thought the movie ended well, there are a few possible concerns for parents. In the beginning of the movie, Maya sneaks out of the house after being grounded and attends a party where a monkey spikes the punch. She is enamored with a boy from school, but once at the dude ranch, she and another girl fight over the ranch owner's son. During the course of the movie, May gets in some minor spats with the girl.

Also, a couple of crude jokes are made, including one about french kissing.
