Online Conversion

• 1). Go to a free video converter website such as grabtube.com (see References). Movavi online converter also allows you to convert video files to MP4 format online.
  
  
• 2). Click the "Browse" button and locate the AVI video you want to convert from the folder you stored it on your computer. Click "Open" to import it to the online conversion program. Keep in mind that the online converter program set limitations on file sizes ranging from 40MB to 100MB.
  
  
• 3). Click "MP4" under "Choose the format to convert to." Click "Convert file." The imported AVI video is converted to MP4 format. Download the converted file to your computer.
  
  

Video Converter Program

• 1). Download and install a free video converter program such as Prism Video Converter (see Resources). You can download this program for both PCs and Macs.
  
  
• 2). Launch the program when the installation is complete and click the "Add Files" button. Locate your AVI file on your computer and click "Open" to import it to your video converter program.
  
  
• 3). Select ".mp4" on the output format window. Click "Encoder options" and select the video codec you want to use. Select from codecs such as H.264 for high quality compressions while maintaining small file sizes. Select the audio format and sound quality. Click "OK" to save the changes.
  
  
• 4). Click "Video output options." Select the output video size and click "OK" to save the changes. Click the "Browse" button by the output folder window. Select the location to save the output file to and click "OK."
  
  
• 5). Click "Convert" to begin the conversion process. The file is in MP4 video format when the process is complete.
