How to Mount a Big Screen on a Wall

    • 1). Find the wall studs with a stud finder. Lightly mark the studs' locations with a pencil.

    • 2). Prop the television against a soft couch or bed so that you can access the back of the unit.

    • 3). Locate the plastic caps that cover the mounting holes in the back of the television. If you cannot see them, look at your owner's manual to find them. Pry the caps off with a screwdriver.

    • 4). Attach the "television half "of the wall mount to the back of the TV with the screws provided. Tighten the screws.

    • 5). Attach the "wall half" of the mount to the mount section on the back of the television. This will allow you to accurately measure its placement on the television so that you can attach it to the wall accurately.

    • 6). Measure the distance between the bottom of the television and the bottom of the wall mount. Use a level to ensure that you are getting an accurate measurement.

    • 7). Determine and mark where you would like to mount your television. Mount it anywhere along wall studs.

    • 8). Use the distance found in Step 6 to mark where the wall half of the mount should be placed.

    • 9). Remove the wall half of the mount and place it on the wall on the marks. Use a level to ensure that it is perfectly level. Hold the mount in place while driving the mount screws to secure it to the wall.

      Mount your television on the wall by lining up the television half and the wall half of the mounting hardware and sliding the two pieces into place. The mounting screws and the wall mount will be able to support the weight of the television as long as the mounting hardware has been secured to wall studs.
