How to Soft Reset the iPod & Restore the Files
- 1). Move the "Hold" switch at the top of the iPod to the Hold position and return it to its original position.
- 2). Press and hold the "Menu" and "Select" buttons on the click wheel.
- 3). Hold the buttons until you see the Apple logo on the iPod's screen. This may take several seconds. Your iPod starts up again after it reboots.
- 1). Plug your iPod into one of your computer's USB ports.
- 2). Open iTunes.
- 3). Select your iPod from iTunes "Devices" list to open your iPod's control page.
- 4). Click the "Restore" button. ITunes restores your iPod to its factory settings. This may take several minutes. Your iPod reboots towards the end of the process.
- 5). Follow the steps on the iTunes Setup Assistant Wizard that opens after iTunes finishes restoring your iPod.
- 6). Sync your iPod to return your music, videos and podcasts to the device. Depending on the amount of content you have for the iPod, this could take several minutes or much longer.
- 7). Click the "Eject" button next to your iPod on the "Devices" list.
- 8). Unplug your iPod from your computer.
