How to BBQ Rib Eye Steak
- 1). Select steaks between 1 and 1 1/2 inches thick. The thickness of the steak plays a big role in cooking times, so talk with your butcher if you can't find a steak the right size. Each steak should weigh about 1 lb.
- 2). Rub both sides of each steak generously with coarse salt and pepper. If you wish, you may also rub the steaks with a few spices like chili powder, cayenne pepper, or garlic powder. Don't over-do it with spices though; you want the steak's natural flavors to shine through.
- 3). Place the steaks on a hot grill over medium-high heat. Grill for about six minutes on each side for a medium-rare 1 1/2-inch steak. If your steak is larger or your prefer it more well done, add another minute or so on each side.
- 4). Remove the steaks from the grill and allow them to rest for 5 to 10 minutes on a plate or cutting board. The steaks will continue cooking during this period, so don't disturb them.
