How to Raise a Number to a Power in OpenOffice Writer
- 1). Click on the small downward arrow at the end of the Formatting toolbar. The Formatting toolbar includes options to format text, such as the "Bold" and "Underline" buttons.
- 2). Point to "Visible Buttons" in the menu that pops up and click "Superscript." Writer will place a "Superscript" button on the Formatting toolbar. The button's icon is a letter "A" written in superscript next to a letter "A."
- 3). Highlight the number you want to raise to a power, and click the "Superscript" button.
- 1). Click "View," point to "Toolbars" and click "Customize" to open Writer's toolbar customization options.
- 2). Select "Formatting" from the "Toolbar" drop-down menu.
- 3). Scroll down in the list of "Commands" until you find the "Superscript" option. Check the box to add a "Superscript" button the toolbar. Click "OK" to save your changes.
- 4). Highlight the number you want to raise to a power, and click the "Superscript" button now located on your "Formatting" toolbar. By default, it will be next to the "Underline" button.
- 1). Press the "Ctrl" key, the "Shift" key and "P" simultaneously to turn superscript on.
- 2). Type the number you want to raise to a power.
- 3). Press the "Ctrl" key, "Shift" key and "P" simultaneously to turn superscript off.
