Oranges have been eaten all around the world since 2500 BC - first discovered in China.
Those ancient oranges were not like ours today, in fact they were sour, but even still a delicacy.
And of course the Romans couldn't be left out, traveling far and wide for a taste, always looking for the most exotic foods to serve at their feasts.
This widely popular but scarce fruit has been featured in many paintings celebrating its rarity to common folk, hence born the still life painting.
Many people gaze upon a Flemish painting and wonder, "it's just a bowl of fruit", but back then only the rich could partake in such a treasure and therefore regarding it as art.
Today it's much easier to get an orange and they taste better too! In Florida 9 out of 10 oranges grown are processed into our breakfast drink called juice and California produces the most eating oranges in the U.

Why do we like them so? Maybe it's because our bodies need their healing properties for things like...

They say five fruits a day, this is the magic number that most ignore, but during cold season we should really make the effort to build up our immune system.
