1.
Prioritize-
Make a list of all the things that you do day in and day out.
List everything.
From cooking breakfast for the troops, work, laundry all the way down to volunteering at your church or kids' school.
Now go through and decide which are the most important, bring you the most joy and fulfilment.
Try to number them in order.
Things that don't make the cut have to go.
We each get just 24 hours a day.
And at least 6-8 should be used for sleeping.
Make the things you fill the rest of your day worthwhile so you can enjoy your life.
2.
Plan-
Make a plan for how you can work all your activities into your daily routine.
Leave out the ones that did not make the cut.
Print out or handwrite a time-table showing all your waking hours.
Then pencil in the activities as you see fit.
Try it out for a week or so and then make changes as needed.
This will be an ongoing task for a while.
And as life so often happens, in a few months' time you may need to re-work this, but now you that you have the experience, you will be all set to make the necessary changes.
3.
Say "NO"-
Now for those things that you need to get rid of such as being room mom (or dad) or serving on a community committee.
One by one, call up the person you need to inform and simply explain to them that after reflecting on your life, your priorities do not line up with the task you are doing for them or the organization.
Explain your time frame for stepping down from your duties (immediately or possibly in a month or two, depending on the nature of the responsibility- don't leave the Boy Scouts hanging highand dry without a leader!) Now remember not to add any more activities to your plate unless you are sure that you want to and are able to take them on.
It's not wrong to say "no" and you don't have to play the role of superman or superwoman.
Just be yourself and enjoy your life!
