Radio Controlled Boats For the Whole Family
I was pleasantly surprised to come across a family running their fleet of radio controlled boats down at the lake last weekend.
Yes, I mean the whole family.
There were three children, two boys and a girl, and Mom and Dad.
The kids were between 9 and 13 years old, the girl being the youngest.
I thought this was fantastic.
So often these days, kids are either playing video games, or hanging out at the mall 'texting' each other! It was indeed refreshing to see these young folks doing something outside, that required some skill and coordination! Not only that, but they were spending time as a family! I got to talking to the group, and found that they have been running radio controlled boats for a couple of years now.
It all started when the father decided to investigate the hobby.
Once he was hooked, he started bringing his oldest son along, and found that he enjoyed running radio controlled boats as well.
One thing led to another, the father and son were spending so much time with their boats, the mom decided it was time for her to see what they found so fascinating about these rc boats.
So, they decided one day that the whole family would make a day of it, and head down to the lake together.
That was all it took.
The kids are quite competitive, always trying to outdo each other...
whether by speed or performing tricks! I know this whole scenario sounds too good to be true, but this family is real, and they are a great example of how a hobby like radio controlled boats can bring a family together.
So, if you are a RC boater, and have young children, think about including them next time you head to the lake.
Then, you won't have to decide whether to go race your radio controlled boats, or spend time with the family...
you can do both!
