Crafts: How to Make a Lanyard Out of Beads
- 1). Wrap a flexible tape measure around your neck to determine how long you'll want your lanyard to be. Cut a length of beading wire 10 inches longer than your measurement.
- 2). String one crimp bead onto your wire and run the end of the wire through the small hole at the base of a lobster clasp. Bring the wire end back through the crimp bead.
- 3). Place the crimp bead in the dimpled portion of your crimping pliers, and squeeze to crimp. Shift the crimp bead into the rounded groove, and squeeze the pliers to close the crimp in on itself, securing the wire in place.
- 4). String your beads onto the other end of the wire in the desired pattern. Cover the piece of wire emerging from the crimped end as you string. Continue stringing until the length of beads is about a 1/2 inch shorter than your desired lanyard length.
- 5). String the second crimp bead and lobster clasp onto the wire. Pass the wire end back through the crimp bead, and pull to tighten the loop.
- 6). Repeat step 3 to secure the crimp bead. Run any remaining wire through a few beads to hide it. Attach the lobster clasps to your ID tag or to a metal ring to hang glasses from.
