How to Make Stone Coasters
- 1). Wash your tiles thoroughly and allow the coasters to completely dry.
- 2). Test the way you'd like your decorations to look. Cut a a few pieces of paper roughly the same size as your stones, and use your stamps to decide where you would like your accent. After you have decided on a placement, color in your stamped paper with your markers in the sections you like. If you are adding any other decorations, like paint or glitter, test these designs as well on the paper. When you have an overall design you really like, prepare for your coaster.
- 3). Stamp your coaster, making sure not to press too hard when applying the ink to your stamp; otherwise places not meant to be may be covered in ink, ruining your image. Carefully color in the areas of the stamp that you would like, and add your other decorations.
- 4). Spray your coaster with acrylic after your ink and other decorations have completely dried. Follow your spray's directions, which are usually to hold the can about a foot away from the piece and mist evenly. You do not need to seal the bottom of the coaster, as you have not decorated it.
- 5). Wait until your acrylic has completely dried and trace your coaster on your cork or felt. Cut the shape out ¼ inch inside your pencil line, which will make your bottom piece a bit smaller than your coaster. Remove the adhesive backing and apply to the back of the coaster. To avoid bubbles, set one side down of the cork down first, and smooth down with your fingers gradually, moving to the other side.
