Open your paper shopping bag so it stands freely. Use the folded imprint in the paper as a guide, and use scissors to cut along the folded line down the center of only one of the bag's side panels. Continue to cut around the base of the bag when you reach the end until you have cut out the entire base section. - 2

Remove the base panel, and set it aside. Spread the paper bag out on an even work surface such as a table or floor. Smooth the paper so it lies flat. It should now be one continuous sheet of paper. - 3

Open your book so it is lying flat, and place it in the center of the opened paper bag. Fold the top portion of the paper bag over so the folded edge of the paper bag lines up with the top edge of the book, and the folded flap is tucked inside against the book face. Press down firmly along this fold line to create a crease in the paper bag. Repeat this for the bottom portion. Fold the bottom of the paper bag over so the edge of the paper bag meets the bottom edge of the book, and press down several times to ensure a good fold line. - 4

Bring the two end sections toward each other, and tuck each end underneath the book pages to temporarily secure in place. Close the book so you can determine where to fold the ends for the best fit. Make a crease or pencil mark in the correct spot. - 5). Fold the left side of the paper bag in toward the book, and tuck the front of the book cover into the pocket created by the fold. Close the book, and smooth the paper bag cover toward the back of the book. Fold the right side of the paper bag in toward the book and slip the rear cover into the right pocket.
